Trustindex Instagram Feed Widget: How It Works & Settings

How the Instagram Feed widget works

InfoSummary: The Trustindex Instagram feed widget displays posts and Reels from your connected Instagram account(s) directly on your website. You can choose which accounts and posts to show, pick a layout, customize the post cards, header and popup, and match the colors to your site — all in the widget editor, with a live preview.

How the Instagram feed widget works

  1. Connect your Instagram account to Trustindex. Each account can be added as a Posts source, a Reels source, or both.
  2. Create a feed widget in the Widget Configurator and select the Instagram sources you want to show.
  3. Customize the widget in the editor. Every change appears instantly in the live preview on the right.
  4. Save and embed the widget on your website.

Once embedded, the widget updates automatically with your latest Instagram content. The only exception is when you hand-pick posts with Manual select (see below).

How to open the widget editor

  1. Log in to your Trustindex account.
  2. Go to Widget configurator → Feed widgets.
  3. Click Add to create a new widget, or click Edit next to an existing Instagram widget.

The settings are on the left, grouped into seven panels. The live preview is on the right, where you can switch between desktop, tablet and mobile view.

Widget editor settings

1. Main settings

  • Widget name: An internal name to help you find the widget later. Visitors don't see it.
  • Widget language: The language of the widget's texts (e.g. date labels, buttons). 50+ languages are available.
  • Color schema: A ready-made color theme, such as Light, Dark, Drop shadow, Separated background or Custom style.
  • Platform style: The visual style of the widget. Choose Instagram for the familiar Instagram look.
  • Lazy load: Loads the widget only when it scrolls into view, so your page loads faster.
  • Delay load: Shows the widget only after the visitor interacts with the page. This keeps it out of PageSpeed Insights results.

2. Post filter

  • Platform and Source: Choose which connected accounts appear. Each Instagram account is listed separately as Posts and Reels. Tick All sources to automatically include sources you add later.
  • Include hashtags / Exclude hashtags: Show only posts with certain hashtags, or hide posts that contain them.
  • Manual select: Hand-pick the exact posts to display. Note: with manually selected posts, the widget no longer updates automatically.
  • Hide copyrighted posts: Hides posts that contain copyrighted content.
  • Show only posts with media: Hides posts without an image or video.
  • Order: Show posts newest first, oldest first, or in random order.

3. Layout

  • Layout type: Choose between Slider, Grid, List or Masonry.
  • Number of posts: How many posts the widget loads.
  • Columns & rows: Set the number of columns and rows. With Dynamic columns number on, the widget fits as many columns as possible based on the target column width.
  • Load more: Adds a button so visitors can load more posts.
  • Gap and margin: The spacing between posts and above/below the widget (in px).
  • Slider settings (Slider layout only): Navigation arrow visibility and style, Autoplay with a rotation interval, and Loop.

4. Card

  • Card style: Choose from four card designs (Card 1–4).
  • Display settings: Turn individual card elements on or off: profile picture, full name, username, likes, comments, reposts, date, media type icon, title, text and media.
  • Media settings: How multi-image posts appear (single image, carousel or grid), image position on the card, and Media ratio (original, square 1:1, portrait 4:5 or 3:4, Reels 9:16, landscape 1.91:1 or 16:9).
  • Text content settings: The number of visible text lines, and what happens with longer captions: Read more, Scroll or Truncated.
  • Format: The date format, e.g. "2 days ago" or "October 14, 2026".
  • Actions: What happens when a visitor clicks a post: Nothing, Redirect to the original post on Instagram, or open a Popup.

5. Header

  • Display header: Shows your profile info above the posts. Choose from three header designs.
  • Enable profile switch: Lets visitors switch between accounts if the widget shows more than one.
  • Display settings: Show or hide the profile picture, full name, username, number of posts, followers, following and the Follow button.
  • Profile name and image: Override the name and profile picture shown in the header (recommended image size: 160 × 160 px).

6. Popup

These settings apply when posts open in a popup on click.

  • Popup type: Choose Popup, Carousel, Media or Scroller.
  • Display settings: Choose which details appear in the popup (profile picture, name, username, likes, comments, date, text).
  • Video settings: Turn on Video auto play, Video controls and Muted video audio.

7. Style & Color

Fine-tune the design to match your website. You can set colors, sizes and spacing for each part of the widget:

  • Widget: Background color, padding, border, corner radius, font family (Poppins or your website's font) and height.
  • Header: Font size and color, padding, profile image size, Instagram avatar border, and Follow button colors.
  • Arrows, dots and Load more button: Colors and background colors.
  • Card: Border, corner radius, background and hover color, padding, font sizes, text and link colors, media corner radius, hover accent bar and shadow.
  • Platform icon: Keep Instagram's original icon color or set your own.
  • Page: Background and text colors.

Saving and embedding your widget

  1. Check the preview in desktop, tablet and mobile view.
  2. Click Save and get code in the top-right corner.
  3. Copy the embed code and paste it into your website.
